Calhoun & Dresden is a cautionary tale for the overactive imagination.
One year after the events of Anselm, our heroes reconvene in the quiet college town of New Wales, Washington. Calhoun, a reputed satirist and inkslinger, seeks refuge from a life on the run for a crime he did not commit. Dresden, a former vocalist and ardent hedonist, longs to discover purpose in an otherwise purposeless life.
A series of violent murders draws each into a pursuit of truth as the serene hamlet of New Wales is cast into upheaval and suspicion.
At the behest of the Mayor’s son, Calhoun reluctantly accepts a job as speechwriter for the suits at City Hall, for his acclaimed condemnation of the Mayor’s policies makes him the perfect mouthpiece to mitigate the political fallout.
Meanwhile, Dresden rekindles his quixotic nature in the neon glow of New Wales’ nightlife—but the night is not without its secrets, and all the designer drugs in New Wales can’t obscure the horrors kept hidden in the moonlight.
Both will discover that New Wales prefers to keep its secrets.
